cheren x mortem. some agree that the extent of his brutality is slightly harsh for his age, most adults pass it off as a common teenager being a common teenager. his friends? he hasn't made many, so none would be able to give a clear opinion of this kid. a kid who, somehow refuses to grow up, yet could easily pass for someone around 2-3 years older than himself. in some way, he is mature, and in another, he is not. having a rather cold and stubborn personality makes it impossible for him to pass as an adult, or at least, an educated one. neither is he a child, having left behind petty emotions, proclaiming that they were obstacles. infact, he doesn't seem to remember when he lost these things. it isn't as if he is inhuman, no... maybe, just maybe, his arrogance and his lack of dramatically soft emotions is an emotion in itself.
or perhaps, he simply hides his emotions. cheren conceals everything about himself, from his emotions to his opinions to his unexpected desire for a pet rabbit. actually, despite him being quite bitter, he does happen to accept a few things. his form of acceptance in people differs from his form of acceptance in rabbits and tropical fish, however. it's slightly complicated, or at least, it won't make anything easier for anyone, especially himself.
though, there is a reason for this. if he was kind, he would be walked all over. cheren believes that the weak are left behind to be consumed by the strong. or at least, he would say that exactly if they were living in a fictional world of cannibals. the troublesome kid simply believes that, the less emotions you emit, the less emotions you feel, thus narrows the possibility of pain.
he wasn't always like this, though. there was a time where his family was entirely intact. he hates speaking about this; the old life in which he misses and would most likely to anything, sacrifice anyone to get back. yet, the scars in the family run deep, and after his sister moved out, there was no chance of the resurrection of his pristine family life.
upon the departure of his sister, he cried plenty. he cried so hard that he would not have to cry for the next 6 years or so, maybe for the rest of his life.
