biography
Being a Quenya, Cecilia Deeva Cyva, or C.C. for short, grew up in the ocean with others of her kind. She was one of many, many children, as is the case with aquatic creatures such as herself. Growing up she had always watched as the elder Quenya left early in the morning to the surface world and returned at night. It wasn't until she was about seven that she learned about Quenya shifting into a human form when they went on to the surface. C.C. was entranced by the thought of the surface; she wanted to see all the sights that her elder siblings and her extended family saw all the time. The surface was a place of wonder that she wanted to experience for herself. When she was about fifteen she was allowed to finally go. C.C. was estatic. Finally she got to see what attracted her family so much and compelled them to shift so dutifully everyday! It was finally her turn. But, as she got to the surface to shift, something went... wrong.
During her very first shift, the shift that would determine what she would look like as a human from then on, something went array. She couldn't see a thing. The world around her was nothing but a vast expanse of darkness. The sights that she had been yearning to lay her eyes upon would never be hers to grasp. C.C. was devastated. All that wishing, all that hoping, all that excitement, was for nothing. There was no point in coming up any longer if she couldn't see this wonderful world. Just as she was about to give up all hopes of being able to enjoy the world above the sea, she hard a beautiful sound. It was strange to her ears, but it was the sound of...instruments; she was sure those are what they were called. But it was beautiful and those instruments being played together like that compelled her to venture forward. Stumbling, falling, and bumping into things and people, she finally found the source of the sound, and couldn't help but feel the excitement in her chest swell. It sounded like there were a lot of people, and there was laughter in the air and the smell of perfume and food. The music (later she learned this) was lovely, and, as if compelled, C.C. opened her mouth and sang whatever came to mind at the time that went along to the music, not realizing she was was composing a song as she went.
When she had paused there was silence, but suddenly there was cheering, and the sound of clapping. C.C. was bewildered. What in the world was going on?? She felt gentle hands guide her somewhere, remembered the first steps upon a stage that she made. She felt something slip over eyes, and were told that they were sunglasses, and that they made her seem like a cool beauty. C.C. could feel her confidence grow, and somehow found her reason to continue shifting and coming up to the surface; she loved to sing.
From then on she's worked as a lounge singer, and as years went by, she earned a reputation of being a "Sightless Siren", and enjoyed every minute of it. Her confidence grew and soon she could walk around the streets of Paralia with ease, a gold decorated cane in her hands. She's been coming and going from Paralia ever since, intent on spending her short life enjoying it to its fullest.
